I finally had a relaxing night in this week! After months of hustling to get everything with my book finished up and ready to go for the launch parties and the actual book release, I’ve been itching for some R&R… And what better way to spend a peaceful night in than watching Sex and the City with my two high-maintenance, Siamese cats?

Besides my fascination with all of the issues that the show and the movies bring up about gender roles, sex, love, marriage and relationships, I found myself fascinated with Carrie Bradshaw’s assistant “Lousie from St. Louis” in the first movie– but more specifically, her designer handbags. When they meet for the first time, Carrie asks Louise how a girl too broke to get her own place affords a great designer handbag, and Louise tells her matter-of-factly, “Psh, its rented!”

Uh, why didn’t I think of that?!

As I watched on, secretly cursing Carrie for taking back Mr. Big and envying her shoes, I got on my laptop and found Bag, Borrow, or Steal… a site where you can not only borrow designer purses, but you can borrow jewelry and other accessories too! How perfect is that?

When I first got divorced and my business partnership fell through, I had to drastically alter my spending habits; but, being in the TV industry, there are never-ending dinners, meetups, and parties to go to for networking that requires me to look my best. I can’t tell you how much I wish I knew about this site back then! It felt irresponsible to buy an expensive new handbag or jewelry, because I knew that after a few months or maybe even a few weeks, I could very easily start to either regret such purchases, or they’d go out of style anyway. Basically, this site is great for any single mom who still wants to go out and look great, but doesn’t want to pay $1500 for a purse or some jewelry that she’s only going to use or wear once. This can be your fun little gift to you!

Happy borrowing 🙂
