If you and your children are in love with the movies then you are all in for an amazingly special treat! Warner Bros. has extended their studio tour Hollywood to include Stage 48: Script to Screen. It is a new 25,000 sq. ft. interactive sound stage. Unlike anything I’ve ever seen before, it gives an authentic taste of each and every behind the scenes craft and/or job necessary to create the movie magic you see on the screen. It is inspiring!
I, and some of my “closest” Hollywood A list friends were fortunate to get a sneak peak before the stage opened on July 16. Joined by Jon Cryer (Two and a Half Men), Clint Eastwood, Kyle Massey (Gotham, That’s So Raven), and Jessika Van (Rush Hour), to name a few we were treated to a super fun evening that you and your kids can also experience when you visit the studio.
We got to design our own Bat mobile, mine’s the sassy pink leopard one pictured here. There were movie costumes, explanations of how the screenplay is written, how casting is done (it’s amazing anyone gets a screen role – it might be easier to win the lottery!) and you can step onto the original “Friends” set. I did! Love coffee.
And everyone can feel what’s it’s like to work with green screen technology. Then you follow the journey into post-production to see how sound editing and musical scoring is accomplished. You’ll also get a peek at the props and costumes from all seven “Batman” films and all eight “Harry Potter” films.
If your kids have ever expressed any interest in the field of film or television this is the perfect place to visit to give them an authentic taste of what it’s like to work in the field. It may seem a bit pricey at $62.00 per person but it is an entire day of activity (less than a day at other local amusement parks) and not just entertaining but educational. I highly recommend it!
The Studio Tour is located on Warner Bros.’ Burbank lot (3400 W. Riverside Drive, Burbank, CA 91505), with tours departing continuously, seven days a week starting at 8am (extended hours are available during the spring and summer seasons).
